Conferment of the Title of Honorary Alderman/Honorary Alderwoman of the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens

Under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council may by resolution, passed by not less than two-thirds of the Members voting at a Special Meeting of the Council, confer the title Honorary Aldermen/Honorary Alderwomen, on persons who have, in the opinion of the Council, rendered eminent service to the Council as past Members of the Council, but who are not then Members.

 

To consider the following Motion, to be proposed by Councillor Banks and Seconded by Councillor Gomez-Aspron that:

 

1)          in pursuance of Section 249 of the Local Government Act, 1972, the title of

Honorary Alderman/Honorary Alderwoman of the Borough be conferred on Keith Deakin;

 

2)        the Common Seal of the Council be affixed to the Enrolment of Keith Deakin, on the said Alderman’s Roll and to the scroll to be presented to them on their admission as Honorary Alderman/Honorary Alderwoman of the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens; and

3)        there be delegated to the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, all the powers of the Council to make the necessary arrangements to confer the award.

 

To consider the following Motion, to be proposed by Councillor Grunewald and Seconded by Councillor Maloney MBE that:

 

1)            in pursuance of Section 249 of the Local Government Act, 1972, the title of

Honorary Alderman/Honorary Alderwoman of the Borough be conferred on Joseph DeAsha;

2)         the Common Seal of the Council be affixed to the Enrolment of Joseph DeAsha on the said Alderman’s Roll and to the scroll to be presented to them on their admission as Honorary Alderman/Honorary Alderwoman of the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens; and

3)         there be delegated to the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, all the powers of the Council to make the necessary arrangements to confer the award.

 

To consider the following Motion, to be proposed by Councillor McCauley and Seconded by Councillor Charlton that:

 

1)            in pursuance of Section 249 of the Local Government Act, 1972, the title of Honorary Alderman/Honorary Alderwoman of the Borough be conferred on Patricia Ireland;

2)         the Common Seal of the Council be affixed to the Enrolment of Patricia Ireland on the said Alderman’s Roll and to the scroll to be presented to them on their admission as Honorary Alderman/Honorary Alderwoman of the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens; and

3)         there be delegated to the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, all the powers of the Council to make the necessary arrangements to confer the award.

1)            in pursuance of Section 249 of the Local Government Act, 1972, the title of Honorary Alderman/Honorary Alderwoman of the Borough be conferred on Keith Roberts;
